THE BRIEF
Techmix is an educational magazine distributed to secondary schools across the UK. For Issue 6 the theme was ‘Creative Careers’, exploring how the creative industries, particularly television and digital media, have evolved in a 24/7 connected society. The content needed to gently map to the curriculum while inspiring students and supporting educators by bridging classroom learning with real-world industry opportunities.
MY APPROACH
Together with co-creative director Charlotte McKay and website creative Rik Hopkinson, I helped shape the visual identity to reflect the fast-changing world of content creation and consumption. We used a clean, modern grid system, with energetic typography and a vibrant colour palette to make the spreads feel dynamic and accessible. The design celebrated the shift toward streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and the then-emerging Facebook Live) and highlighted diverse creative career paths in a visually engaging way.
The overall aesthetic aimed to show students that creativity is thriving in new formats and that exciting opportunities exist beyond traditional routes.
THE OUTCOME
The issue was printed and distributed nationwide by The Education Company / Wyndeham Press Group. It successfully sparked interest in creative careers and helped students connect their studies with evolving industry trends.
